Despite all this, they get foiled by a bunch of teenagers and the main character's hot alien boyfriend because: They observed humanity allegedly for six thousand years (or something like that). They travelled across space reach our planet with their brains uploaded as pure consciousness. The aliens in this book have vastly superior tech capable of orbital bombardment using metal rods twice the length of the Empire state building, drones capable of going from zero to Mach 2 on a dime, and hijacking bodies. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The 5th wave sells itself as a book with smart aliens.
I buy it and take it home to curl up with and read. I look through the first pages and it looks pretty good to me. First thing this book tells me is, "THESE ALIENS ARE COMPETENT AS HELL AND THEY'VE ALREADY WRECKED THE WHOLE WORLD!" And I'm suddenly interested. Critics on the back say, "Incredible! Innovative! Groundbreaking!" so I crack it open took take a peek.
